Now, this one is indeed a challenging milestone for S&M, and for the listeners. This new format has operatic direction, even though the parts of different characters are sang solely by Martina, and the enhanced and expanded instrumentation is skillfully presented, as always. Bravi!
I would strongly to recommend to get the beautiful booklet for the first few hearings. The story becomes easily acceptable, the characters - well distinguished. And the booklet is a standalone peace of modern art.
Favorite track: Doctor Mushroom's Last Words.
The album holds very dearly onto its narrated and fable-like thematic thread exploring the simplest, yet multi-layered, setting of a lively garden. Both instrumentals and vocals offer a merry chameleonic experience as the songs pass from one character to the next, from animals to clouds to human guests, experiment best exemplified by the ever-changing Zoological Jamboree track.
Favorite track: We Are Sorry For Your Picnic.

It took a while, but we finally are able to present you our sixth full lenght album! After The Elementary School Of Life we took a pause for the first time since we started making music, but after a couple of months some very basic ideas started to come out. At first, we didn't know if it was going to be a single, an EP, or whatever, but we knew that we wanted to continue on the very broad path of psychedelic pop with some baroque thrown in.
The Beguiling Story of a Little Flower, the song, was born around October; a short story of a nice flower just blooming in early spring, and as he sees how beautiful the world is, and how scary but healthy the rain can be, is finally picked up by some human, therefor ending his life so early purely because of his beauty.
We then had the idea of having other songs all built around that moment and place, but each with a different point of view. So we have a family of humans in The Highs And Lows Of A Day Out In The Park, the trees in Trees Like Me, the clouds and the drops of rain in We Are Sorry For Your Picnic, and so on... Everything is intertwined in some sort of a fairy tale.
Many characters find their place in The Zoological Jamboree, a symphonic extravaganza very much inspired by Disney's Silly Symphonies.
In the end, another little flower is left on the ground, still alive, but not as beautiful as the one at the beginning of the story, 'cause some rabbits stepped on him earlier. His life was saved by his ugliness, and, although many around him can't understand it, he is happy.
The whole story is set in the same imaginary universe of The Elementary School Of Life.
More information and lyrics can be found on the booklet included in this album's download.
Musically The Beguiling Story of a Little Flower can be defined as psychedelic pop, with a few tracks that actually follow the common song structure, and others that are a bit more unpredictable.
Everything is sprinkled with the likes of harpsichord, brass sections, backward tape effects and a production that uses the stereo spectrum in a way that was common in the late '60s.
We are very proud of the result, also being the first album we've written and recorded being both in the same place.
Hope you'll like it!
