mikayel_abazyan A nice attempt at adding an album of music created solely with synthesizers. Not a music for all-moods or for every day listening... Yes, rather a soundtrack for some special activity. What kind of activity? You decide it for yourself ;-) Favorite track: Back Home.

about

It all started in April, during the first lockdown. With basically nothing to do and not enough concentration to finish The Beguiling Story of a Little Flower, I started to fiddle around with synthesizers.
The result was a track with three sections, recorded on the 10th of April, all done overdubbing different layers of totally improvised synth parts, so no actual songwriting was involved.
Not knowing what to do with it, I decided to leave it there for a while.
Fast forward around a month later, me and Martina watched the classic movie Flash Gordon, we loved it, and it reminded me of the weird but beautiful soundtrack by Queen, that I've known since I was a child.
At that point an idea came to me: what if I try to record some kind of soundtrack for a sci-fi movie that doesn't exist? It obviously had to have all the clichés, and it had to be at least mostly electronic. Now, I don't consider myself a fan of electronic music, but there's one guy that I love, and that's Jean Michel Jarre. So that might give you a hint on what kind of direction I took.

So the first thing that I did was splitting up the three parts of that track I did in April, and assign a title to every section (they ended up being Space Travel, Falling Into the Unknown Planet, and Slavery), based on what they reminded me of. I then started to improvise, and improvise, and improvise again. Every track was done quickly and istinctively, and was given a title that kind of decribe the section of that imaginary movie that it was going to be about. Again, everything you hear is totally improvised, nothing has been written or composed, unlike S&M's albums, on which everything is carefully composed and assembled.
The story arc is self-explanatory if you just read the titles, but hopefully it leaves some spaces for you, the listener, to fill.
The music is all electronic except for Martina Vesta's voice on one track and the ending, in which some “rock” instruments appear, to symbolize the return to Earth.

It's a simple and short album done just for fun, conceived during the first lockdown and released during the second one, without being inspired or, God forbid, about it.
Enjoy!
