mikayel_abazyan I have been trying for one (!) month to post this short review and select my "favourite track"! The album cover fully correlates with the beautiful sonic mosaic. The songs hardly can be separated from each other, and those instrumentals are that Magic Glue that presents the album as a whole. The "best" track that I have selected not only concludes the album, but the past history of S&M. They have graduated the Elementary School and are to open a new page in their Book. Favorite track: The Moon Is Singing The Night Away.

about

12 page booklet included in the download.

A magical path of self-discovery and spiritual elevation through a Dadaist vision of everyday life, to rediscover the simplest and most playful part of each of us.

After four albums and an EP in which we tried to cover as many grounds as possible in terms of genres and sounds, this time we wanted to focus on something much more specific.
A very different work from all that we have released so far, but at the same time probably the most representative of our idea of music.
We always loved psychedelic pop music from the late Sixties, as shown on a few tracks on our previous albums, so why not dedicate a whole record to this kind of music? The main inspiration comes from the mastework Smile by The Beach Boys, both for the decision to combine music and sounds used in a musical way, and for the modular composition method. Because of that, there aren't actual songs on here, and the whole album is made up of fragments, all combined in the best way possible to form a unique piece of music, hence the definition of "mini pop- opera" we decided to use.

Writing sessions and early recordings began back in late March with the title track, while we were still recording songs for our previous album, Back And 4th, then it all took form pretty quickly from there. As stated above, every song on here is actually a fragment, or sometimes a track made up of fragments combined, and because of that the album is best enjoyable as a unique piece of music. That is also why the album is considerably shorter than most of our previous ones, we didn't want it to overstate its welcome. That and also because most of the albums that inspired us, having been concieved in the days of vinyl, were all between 30 and 40 minutes anyway.

The arrangements and the production are obviously not "modern" in any way, and we've made a large use of real woodwinds for the first time, played by Martina, delegating most solos to them instead of the usual guitar or keyboard (been there, done that, there are plenty on the previous albums).

What is the Elementary School Of Life then?

Every possible interpretation is the right one...
