mikayel_abazyan This new album proves Simone has grown into a skillful guitarist who feels exactly what a song needs and skillfully and beautifully delivers that. The arrangement has also developed. It couldn't be otherwise, I strongly believe - just look how many new sounds have been added to the sonic palette! Martina's vocals have been applied very successfully to the brilliantly played tracks, which eventually created a trade-mark S&M material. Favorite track: And Then I Spoke.

about

And so we finally reached our fourth full lenght album (not counting singles and EPs), as the title suggests. This has been a much easier album to make than, say, The Drop, and nearly all the songs were mostly written by the end of 2018.
A song on here, Gone, actually reaches back from before The Drop came out, and the first song written specifically for this album, Golden Age Syndrome, saw the light around a week after the release of said record. Back And 4th kind of has a similar format to The Drop, being made up of a bunch of songs covering many different sounds and genres, but we like to think that this time we refined those elements and added something new, hopefully.

We go from the pure heavy "proto-prog" of the opening track to the 60's sound of I'd Like Some Fries, from the mad psychedelia of If Only I Could Remember Where I Left My Marbles to the disco feel of Rules Are Just For Fools, and so on.
It's a full hour of new music, of which you may already have heard the two singles I'd Like Some Fries and Gone, but the first one is actually longer on the record, so maybe it's worth another listen or two.

An important addition is the presence of Martina not only as a singer but also as a musician this time. She has been playing flute for years, but gave it up a while ago, only to get back to it while we were working on this album. That brought in also the piccolo, and both instruments are featured in a few songs. Sadly, since most music was already written by then, there aren't many flute and piccolo parts, which were added later on, but we hope to feature them (and also the clarinet!) much more on the next album, which we are already working on at the moment.
As usual, everything has been recorded at home, all written, played, produced, mixed and mastered by us.
We decided, in terms of production, to try to keep everything as natural as possible, without using too many effects and leaving a few imperfections here and there, because we think that the human element is very important in music, and it's sadly less and less prominent in today's productions.
And as a tradition since The Drop, we actually recorded the vocal tracks for 5 out of 11 songs, mixed the whole album and mastered it in the last two weeks before the release. And we even managed to not go insane! Not totally at least.

We truly hope you'll like these songs, as we are really proud of them, and we regard this album as our finest up to this point.
If you buy Back And 4th here on Bandcamp, you get a pdf booklet with lyrics and a few words about each song.
Enjoy!
